10 of the Hottest Wedding Trends for 2015

Another year has begun and that means there are lots of new wedding trends to enjoy! After the elegant vintage themes of 2014, this year will be a lot more laid back and have a touch of retro to it. While elegant Downton Abbey style weddings was one of the trends for 2014, festivals and the 70s are big news in the wedding world for 2015.

As technology advances so does wedding photography with selfies still as popular as ever. When your guests are not taking images of the beautiful arrangements of food for their Instagram accounts, we can guarantee that there will be lots of wedding selfies appearing on social media. Photographers are also taking advantage of new technology, so expect to see drones used for creative aerial shots and GoPro videos will become bigger than ever.

Check out these trends that are set to storm the wedding world this year!

Marvelous metallics

Metallic themes were big in 2014 and they are here to stay! Copper, silver and gold are took over the 2015 catwalks and they have made their way into the world of weddings. The great thing about metallics is that it suits all skin tones and gives a sense of elegance to the bridal party. Shimmering down the aisle is going to be a major trend this year!

70s style

Almost everyone has been to a music festival at least once in their lives, and this laid-back atmosphere will inspire weddings in 2015.  70s glam will also make an appearance in kitschy details and earthy settings that will set the romantic mood.

Festival food

Foodies will love the new trends as food becomes and even bigger feature at weddings. There will be more choice and casual serve-yourself dining will fit in well with the festival vibe. There will also be elaborate displays of food with dessert tables morphing into dessert areas, and beer tastings becoming beer gardens!

Quirky Cakes

Glam rock was all about standing out from the crowd and having a unique style. This can be transferred to you cake designs for your wedding. Whilst the ruffle edged cakes from last year are still trending, naked cakes are going to be the BIG design for on trend couples. Naked cakes are cakes dressed with little or no icing and whilst simplistic in character can stand out just as much as heavily detailed cakes. Another idea is to use the metallic inspired icing to make a show stopping creation to rock your guests world.

70's style bands

We know that Glam Rock will influence weddings this year, so what better way than to incorporate this into your wedding entertainment! Classics from musical greats such as Pink Floyd, Queen, the Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac will really get the crowd moving and have everyone from your shy uncle to your crazy childhood friend busting their moves, till the early hours.

Alternative venues

Gone are the churches and function rooms. In 2015 couples want to get married in unique places like sports fields, museums, caves and even up in the air! The sky is the limit in 2015 when it comes to your wedding.

Wild blooms

2015 sees the return of wild flowers that look like they have just been picked from a nearby meadow. Soft colored blooms in a range of colors will be popular with brides who want a laid back vibe. Classic bouquets of white and ivory are still popular as well as the traditional roses and lilies for a bride’s bouquet.

Charitable deeds

Guests no longer want to just sit and observe at wedding parties. Getting involved is key to a great wedding. Whilst expenditure is often big for guests as well as the main couple on the big day, it's always a great time to give back to those in need. Be it nominating guests to make donations when uploading photos on social media or simply using the opportunity to support your favorite charity by presenting each guest with a favor outlining a donation has been made in thanks of their love and support over the years.

Personal favors

This year couples are getting personal when it comes to their favors. Items that are related to where the couple comes from, met or live are top of the list. Local honey or chocolate are going to be popular as well as favors with a personal touch. Here’s another opportunity to use those selfies and create something memorable for your guests!

Fairytale romance

If you still love a romantic wedding then don’t worry, the fairytale wedding is still in fashion, especially given that this is a bumper year for fairytale movies! Castle weddings will prove popular as princesses marry their prince charming and live happy ever after.
