5 Ways to Bring Back the Spark in your Relationship
It’s easy to start taking your relationship for granted after a while but you don’t need to lose that spark! A little bit of effort can go a long way in wow’ing your partner all over again. Try a few of our favorite tips and get that spark back and your head back in the clouds.
Make a bucket list
Agree to spend an evening sitting down to write your bucket lists. Make a list of absolutely everything that you want to do before you die. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is. Everything is fair game. Write down your wish to see your own kids get married. Or to go skydiving. Or learn Mandarin. It doesn’t have to be set in stone. Just try to think of things that have crossed your mind more than once over the years. Exchange lists with each other when you are done then get ready to start crossing things off!
Start no screens night
The average couple spends a lot of time together in front of screens. Between watching TV and gazing into separate laptops, most couples are seriously lacking in quality interaction time. It’s understandable that you don’t have hours worth of conversation topics stored up for each night but it is important to keep things fresh. Set aside one evening per week to have a screen blackout. This means that you shut off your phones, closes your computers, and step away from the TV. After that, the choice is yours. You might be surprised how creative you can be after a few weeks (if not, search the internet for ideas before screen blackout nights!)
Get away from each other
Everything really is best in moderation. While it is important to spend time together, it is also important to spend time apart. If you are living together, it’s critical to claim a couple of nights for yourself. Go out with friends. Spend a night enjoying some alone time. Do whatever you like really but make an effort to etch out some time for yourself. It will make you appreciate the time that you spend together more and might even leave you with a few new and interesting things to chat about.
Keep it fresh
It’s important to do what you can to prevent your relationship from getting stale. Make an effort to keep things exciting by introducing something new every so often. Spend less money by not going out to the same places you’ve been a hundred times and start saving for a weekend getaway. Instead of ordering the same old takeaway every week, try a new restaurant or even make something you’ve never had before. It doesn’t have to be anything major, just make an effort to try something- anything- new every week.
Go out of your way
Your partner already knows how much care but everyone likes to be reminded every once in awhile. Just a little bit of effort can go a long way. Send a sexy or sweet message midday to give a little workday perk up. Make a quick detour to pick up your partner’s favorite coffee drink. You don’t need to make a habit of it even. In fact, it is better if you don’t. Keep things interesting by surprising your partner once a week or so with a nice gesture.
