5 Wedding Ideas for the Non-Traditional Bride

Does the idea of a traditional wedding make you cringe? Whatever anyone might tell you; you don't have to stick with tradition. Not everyone wants the big white wedding, so why should anyone have a day they hate! Check out these non-traditional ideas.

Wear what you want

Would you wear white in your everyday life? If it's a color you don't want near your wardrobe then why wear it on the happiest day of your life! There are lots of non-white bridal gowns out there that are perfect for a wedding, it's a look that even the wedding world is embracing.

Walking down the aisle

If you don't want to do the traditional thing of walking down the aisle to meet your true love at the altar, then don't do it! Not everyone is comfortable with everyone looking at them. You could walk down together as a couple or be at the door to welcome people to your venue. If you have children you could walk down the aisle together, just like Angelina Jolie.

Dump the bridesmaids

Not many brides ditch the bridal party, but only having a best man and a maid of honor might be more up your alley. They don't even have to be at the altar with you – just you BFF who will be on hand to help you with wedding planning.

Ditch the rings

If you don't like wearing rings then you don't have to! An expensive piece of jewelry doesn't mean you love each other any more or any less. You can use anything as a symbol of your love and commitment, whether it's a necklace or a tattoo, or just make a sincere promise to each other. If you're committed to each other you don't need a symbol to show your love to the rest of the world.

Keep the bouquet

Tradition dictated that the bride tosses her bouquet to the unmarried women at the wedding – and we have seen some hilarious results! But you don't have to throw your flowers, you spent a lot of money on your flowers so why not keep them. You can preserve your bouquet, whether you press it and frame it or have it freeze dried and enjoy it
