Love in Bloom: 5 Spring Wedding Ideas

Spring is one of the most popular times of year to have a wedding. The world is awakening after a cold snap and everyone is smiling as they go about their business. The biggest worry for a spring bride is the tempremental weather, pollen, and seasonal allergies interfering with her day, but following our tips for pulling together a lovely wedding celebration will ensure that there will be little else to worry about.

Gorgeous gardens

A garden of some kind is the ideal place to welcome spring and herald the arrival of a brand-new marriage. Look for vineyards, orchards, gardens, or arboretums where you can have a gorgeous outdoor ceremony and reception. Let your flower girls in on the wicked fun with costume-inspired frocks.

Fun flowers

We don’t know what kind of spring wedding it would be without daffodils, tulips, and daisies! Aside from the budding love between your and your groom, flowers are the stars of the spring wedding show from centerpieces to wreaths hanging on the church door. To add a fun twist to floral arrangements, see if your florist can create centerpieces with your favorite spring flowers along with seasonal berries for a fresh, sweet look.

In Your Favor

For your guests, consider sending them home with miniature potted plants or herbs or bulbs and flower seed packets with your own label on them. Tiny jars of honey,  lemon-basil hard candies, or packages of mint tea are other sweet favor ideas (check out our environmentally friendly wedding favor ideas).

A Tisket, A Tasket

A tea-length dress is perfectly appropriate for the spring bride, and seersucker suits work well for the men. Any form of an Easter color from pastel to bright will work for your décor and for your bridesmaids dresses: if you can’t make up your mind on colors, consider letting your bridesmaids choose their own hues for a dress (from a palette you provide, naturally). Your flower girl will look especially lovely in a floral wreath adorned with ribbons and butterflies. She, and your bridesmaids, can carry their flowers in mini-Easter-style baskets for a spring touch.

Photo Opportunities

Rain or shine, the spring invites photo opps galore. Have umbrellas on hand for your wedding party and wear rain boots under your gown for a touch of practicality and whimsy. See if you can snag a bicycle built for two as both your getaway car and for picture taking. Kites, bubbles, and oversized balloons all say spring.
