Real Wedding - Elissa and David in San Diego, California

Elissa and Dave first met at a wedding and began dating despite the two-hour drive between them. They spent their weekends in San Diego and two years into the relationship Dave moved to Huntington Beach after he got a job with a fire department. But things weren’t all rosy. Elissa was enrolled in a graduate program that took all her time, so things got tough and the couple parted ways after three years together. But it only took six months for them to realize that they were made for each other!

After seven years together the couple got engaged and spent nine months planning their big day. “Given that our relationship began in San Diego it seemed suiting to have our wedding in the same city,” Elissa said. “We scheduled a few appointments at various wedding venues, but we booked our wedding at the Prado Balboa Park immediately after touring the beautiful national historic landmark.”

Thanks to the influence of Spanish, Moorish and Mexican architectural design seen throughout Balboa Park the couple decided they didn’t need a wedding theme. They just wanted a day that people would enjoy, so décor was kept to a minimum as Elissa explains. “We did not decorate our ceremony and put most of the focus on our centerpieces for the reception which included: cabbage, roses, orchids, and a hanging crystal garland. I picked a few areas of importance as did Dave, and those were our main focus.”

The couple said their vows in the beautiful Casa del Rey Moro Garden, and then went to the House of Hospitality for the reception. Check out Square Eye Photography’s beautiful pictures of their special day.
