Real Wedding - Jennie and Brandon in Wolcott, Connecticut

We love a winter wedding - so when we saw Jennie and Brandon's winter wonderland theme we just had to share it. Thankfully Kelly Kirkland Photography was on hand to capture some beautiful moments from their day.

Jennie was having a bad day when Brandon hatched his plan to pop the question! “I went to New Jersey to try out for the television show The Voice.  When I didn't make it, I was extremely bummed out.  I drove home from the audition and when I got home I took a nap and waited for Brandon to come home from work.” When he got home he suggested that they go to their favorite aquarium and make a special visit to the penguins.

“We went to the Mystic Aquarium and met Brandon's sister and brother in-law and their twin babies.  When we got there I was excited to finally get to do the penguin encounter. This had been something I had been wanting to do for years so you can imagine how excited I was, while Brandon looked less than thrilled and I couldn’t figure out why. I kept asking him what was wrong and if he wasn’t having a good time, when little did I know he was nervous that he was about to pop the question!  At the end of the encounter we were able to ask questions and Brandon asked questions, but he looked very nervous and could not keep still.  We were getting ready to walk out and he said to me, ‘Hold on, I need to ask the trainer a question.’  I was thinking to myself what more could you want to know about penguins?’  He leaned in to the penguin and said, ‘What was that? Oh I got ya!’ At this point I was like wow he is talking to a penguin he must be crazy!’”

“That is when he got down on one knee and presented me with the most beautiful ring. He said, ‘Jennie you make me so happy and I don’t know what I would do without you in my life. Will you marry me?’  Of course I said, yes.  That was the most exciting day ever and I felt like a celebrity because everyone was watching us through the encounter window.  We got to take tons of photos holding the penguin... and one actually bit me!  Needless to say the proposal was absolutely perfect and unforgettable.”

The couple had the wedding of their dreams three years later, and because winter is Jennie’s favorite time of year they decided to use it as a theme. They chose Mahan's Lakeview as their venue: “ They have a beautiful chapel that we were able to use for pictures.  They also had built in lighting, so I was able to choose the color I wanted to go with my winter wonderland theme. I prayed for snow on my wedding day and I got it!  It made the most amazing pictures.”

We are in love with their white wedding – take a look at Jennie and Brandon’s special day!
