The Bride's Guide to Bridesmaid Duties and Responsibilities
As soon as you get engaged your mind will turn to the big day, and one of the biggest decisions you have to make is who will be your bridesmaids! When you're stressed or having planning problems your 'maids are there to support you.
But as a bride you have to remember that there are boundaries! Your bridesmaids are not on call 24/7, and to make sure you don't cross that invisible line we have compiled what your bridesmaids are there for.
Whether you're having a bridal shower, bachelorette or hen party it's up to your bridesmaids under the direction of your maid of honor to organize these for you. Whether it's afternoon tea or a wild party, a spa day or an adventure afternoon they will put plans in place and get the women in your life together to celebrate. The bridesmaids may consult you on the theme of the party and get names for the guest list, so you don't get away with doing absolutely nothing. Just make sure to be clear about what you don't want so you don't end up with something you really don't want.
Any pre-wedding tasks that you need help with, your bridesmaids are there to help. Whether it's helping you stuff invitations or get your wedding day emergency kit ready, your 'maids should be able to help you with what needs to be done. If you're finding the stress of getting everything done before the big day is building, don't be afraid to ask your bridesmaids to help with anything you might need before the big day.
Whether it's during the planning stages or the big day itself, your bridesdmaids are there to help you keep calm. Your 'maids can offer help with any problems, or liaise with any vendors who need chasing up. They are also there if you just need to talk – when there's so much going on it sometimes helps to take a moment and breathe. These girls are the ones who should be there for you during the highs and lows.
Wedding day duties
On the big day your bridesmaids should get ready at your home. The maid of honor should take charge and make sure everyone is where they need to be and have everything they need. Everyone should have allocated tasks that will take any pressure off the bride, whether it's getting her bag ready or fixing her a sandwich. When the bride arrives at the church everyone needs to be the right position, ready for her grand entrance! After the ceremony bridesmaids need to be ready for photographs. Someone needs to help the bride get her dress right, and hold onto her bouquet, making sure it doesn't get damaged. Tasks for the reception should be divided up equally, but everyone should lead the way onto the dance floor for a night of dancing!
