Mix it Up: Bridesmaid Gowns You Can Mix and Match

If you have been shopping for bridesmaid gowns you'll know that there's an unlimited amount of choice out there for your 'maids. Traditionally all your bridesmaids wear the same gown, or at least the same color, but there's a new trend and it's shaking up the wedding world.

Brides are getting more relaxed when it comes to bridesmaid attire and letting them choose whatever they want to wear – anything they want to wear! Bridesmaids are mixing it up with mismatching gowns – and we think it looks awesome.

There was a time when bridesmaids wore the same gown as the bride - in ancient Rome, 10 witnesses dressed like the bride and groom in order to ward off evil spirits. But brides are breaking with tradition and trying something different.

Your bridesmaids can let their personality shine through their gowns and feel confident at your side (who hasn't heard a bridesmaid's tale of woe about wearing a gown she hates). Giving them some choice also means they will actually wear the gown again!

If you are going to mix and match gowns, you might want some rules though – perhaps have everyone wear dresses that are the same length, the same fabric and you could have everyone wear the same shoes.

While you might not feel comfortable letting your bridesmaids go wild (you don't want a rainbow walking down the aisle) you can stick within a color palette. Then your bridesmaids have the freedom to choose a gown that makes them feel fierce, but it still sticks within your theme.
