8 Ultimate Wedding Cake Fails! #WEDDINGCAKEFAIL

The main event at your wedding reception is the moment you get to cut your wedding cake in front of all your friends and family. Hours of work, and plenty of money, has gone into creating a special cake for this moment. Like any other part of your wedding there's plenty of things that can go wrong like these poor couples found out. From ugly cakes and bad bakers to clumsy guests, we take a look at some of the ultimate wedding cake fails!

The baking fail!

Everyone has an idea what their dream cake is going to look, and taste, like. One bride in the UK wanted a black cake (the one you can see on the left below) and commissioned a baker to make her dream come true. But as you can see the reality was more of a nightmare. The woman then tried to sell it on eBay and wrote: “The cake was made for our wedding...and this is what was waiting for us at our reception. We have things in motion to prevent this person ever making a cake again and upsetting, or trying to rip off other unsuspecting customers.”

The taste fail!

We get to look at a lot of wedding cakes, and boy do we get hungry! All of the cakes we see look delicious beyond words, but in reality the proof is (literally) in the pudding, like this poor couple found out…

When your tools fail

Before you cut your cake it’s worth making a few checks to see if everything is ready, and steady. This couple weren’t expecting this to happen!

Have the right tools!

There is a whole industry based around wedding cake servers and cutting knives…so why would you not use one! Choosing the right tools for the job is the key to success in so much of what we do, and a sword isn’t really made for cutting wedding cake. At least the bride got a good laugh out of this fail!

Disco cake disaster

Dance routines have become a big thing at weddings and, although they’re being done to death, we are still surprised by some amazing ones which pop up on the internet. There are so many things that can go wrong when people are letting loose on the dance floor. Who saw this one coming?

Another baking fail!

Just look at this poor bride’s face! The slightly leaning mountain of brown was a long way off the cake they had designed. Their wedding colors were chocolate brown and apple green, but the person who made this must have got a little confused (or something!) There was a faux cake at the ready, but the staff at the venue came to the rescue and called a trusted cake company who had a cake ready in four hours. We salute you!

Walking the cake fail!

The origin of the wedding cake procession is steeped in history, tradition, and superstition. The custom goes back to Roman times and was part of a morning offering to the gods. It’s a tradition many couples keep alive today, but rather than a long procession the cake is just brought into the dining hall. If you are going to include a cake procession, you better make sure you are putting your cake in safe (and steady) hands…

Suff your face fail!

Traditionally, the bride and groom will feed each other a small bite of their wedding cake after it has been cut. But some newlyweds take this to a whole new level and stuff cake into each other’s faces! There is cake in their hair, on the floor…it’s one big ol’ mess. But when cake face stuffing goes wrong, it can go really wrong…
