Beauty Boost: 5 Natural Ways to get your Skin Wedding Ready

The wedding is just a few weeks away and your skin is looking a little unhappy. Rather than spending a small fortune on the latest beauty products you can give your skin a little TLC with some natural products that you'll find at home.

Have a search in your kitchen or make a trip to the vegetable aisle and you’ll find a host of ingredients for easy to make beauty treatments.

Here are five natural beauty treatments you can make yourself that will help make your skin healthy and wedding ready.

Add moisture to dry skin

Dry skin isn’t a woman’s best friend. Make-up shows up every flake of skin, while your face feels tight and itchy. If you have eczema or patches of dry skin you can soothe it with some oatmeal! Take three cups of finely ground oatmeal and soak it in warm water for 15 minutes. This mixture will also help soothe sunburn and give your skin a healthy beauty boost. Oatmeal is also a natural acne remedy when used as a mask, and add natural honey to soothe any inflammation. Not only is it natural and kind to your face, it’s budget friendly too!

Wrinkles be gone!

Green grapes are not only delicious and healthy, they contain alpha hydroxy acids which are used in treatments to erase fine lines and give the skin a smooth appearance. For an easy and economical anti-wrinkle treatment, cut a grape in half and press it gently against the offending wrinkle. Leave the pulp and juice on your skin for twenty minutes, and then you can rinse your face with warm water and pat your skin gently dry. You can repeat the process a few times a day, but to get the best effect use it daily. After a few weeks you will notice your skin will feel softer and fresher.

Clean and tone

Mint is one of the easiest herbs you can grow in your garden, but you have to be careful that it doesn’t go wild and take over your plants! As well as a base for great mojitos, you can use mint to make a facial toner. Just put a large handful of mint in a bowl and pour over 50gm / ½ liter of boiling water. Allow the mixture to cool then strain it into a cup or container. Your toner is now ready - just pop it into the fridge and use it cold for a refreshing way to clean your skin! You can also add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to help balance out the pH levels in your skin.

Reduce those pores

Tomatoes are one of the most versatile ingredients in food, but they also have uses in beauty. Their vitamin C will brighten your skin and the vitamin A helps reduce wrinkles. Tomatoes are also an astringent which can help reduce your pores. To make a tomato mask, slice and de-seed one tomato then mash it up with a fork. Apply the mixture to your skin and leave for 10 minutes, then rinse your face with warm water and pat dry. Another treatment for pores can be made by mixing a tablespoon of fresh tomato juice with a teaspoon of fresh lime juice. Apply to the face with a cotton ball and leave on the skin for 15 minutes. Wash your face with cool water until all the tomato juice is gone and your skin is clean.

Treat your hands

Yogurt has long been used as a skin treatment and is one of the cheapest beauty ingredients you can get! It contains zinc, calcium, lactic acid and vitamin B - all things that nourish the skin and help regeneration. If you want to use yogurt as a treat for your skin you need to buy the plain variety. Strawberry yogurt is delicious, but the ingredients might aggravate your skin. Your hands get less TLC than the rest of your body, so show them some love by mixing eight tablespoons of yogurt and half a tablespoon of lemon juice. Then smother your hands and nails with the mixture. Leave it on for five minutes then rinse it all off with warm water. For a quick and very easy treatment to tighten pores and treat acne, you can put yogurt straight onto your skin and let it dry for 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water, then feel the difference it has made to your skin!
