Flour Power: 10 Delicious Floral Wedding Cakes that are Works of Art

Flowers here, flowers there, you’ll find flowers everywhere at a wedding – even on the cakes!

Floral wedding cakes are top of the charts when it comes to wedding cakes. Roses, peonies, lilies and orchids are the most asked for designs, and judging by these cakes it’s easy to see why.

Flowers on the cake can be fresh flowers or beautifully made sugar craft versions that can resemble those in the bride’s bouquet or those used in decorating the venue. But it’s worth bearing in mind that sugar flowers will last long after your wedding day and are not going to wilt or affect the cake in any way. There are also some flowers that are toxic if eaten, like lily of the valley and azaleas, so if you are going to have fresh flowers on your cake make sure they won’t make you and your guests sick.

If you have a flower in mind, make sure to bring a clear photograph of what you want to the person making your cake. If you’re less fussy about the type of flower used, you should bring in color swatches so the baker can create a cake that will complement your wedding theme.
