Hair Repair: 5 Natural Ways to get your Locks Wedding Ready

You have a wedding to go to, but your hair is looking more hillbilly than Hollywood. You might not have the time or the money to get down to a salon for a hair treatment, so why not give your hair some natural therapy?

You don’t need to spend money on expensive hair treatments - you can make your own from items you have in your kitchen!

You can give your hair some TLC by using items you have at home. Here are some easy natural hair treatments you can make that will help make your hair healthy and wedding ready.

Avocado

If you want to make your own beauty treatments then you should stock up on avocados. Mash up half an avocado and massage into clean, damp hair. Leave it on your hair for 15 minutes then rinse with warm water. You can also add eggs, honey and oil to make a conditioning mask. Just whisk one egg yolk, one teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil, and one teaspoon of honey together then add half a mashed avocado. When you're in the shower, apply the paste to the ends, then the rest of your hair. Let it soak for 20 minutes, rinse it out with cool water then wash your hair with shampoo.

Eggs

If you look in most kitchens you will find some eggs, so this is one of the easiest treatments to try on your hair. The golden rule when using eggs as a treatment is to make sure you don’t use water that’s too hot or you could end up with scrambled eggs in your hair! For an easy revitalizing mask, mix an egg yolk, a few drops of olive oil and a tablespoon of honey. Massage the mixture into your scalp and hair then wrap a towel around your head. Wait 30 minutes, then rinse your hair making sure all the mixture is washed out.

Beer

If your hair is looking a bit dull, you should wash it with some beer. Yes, the traditional pub favorite is rich in proteins and vitamins, thanks to the natural barley and hops, all things that will help give you healthy hair. Make sure you use flat beer that is free of carbonation. Shampoo your hair, rinse and squeeze dry. Pour some of the beer into your hair from the root to ends then leave it for two minutes. When the time is up, rinse out the beer with warm water then towel dry and style your hair as usual. Another option is to mix some beer in with your conditioner then leave it in your hair for a few minutes before rinsing.

Olive Oil

Digestion, skin and your heart– all areas olive oil can give you a natural boost. But did you know that it can also give you healthy hair?  Olive oil mixed with lemon juice can help treat problem dandruff. Every few weeks you treat you hair with a mix of equal amounts of olive oil, lemon juice and water that you massage onto your scalp when your hair is damp. Let the mixture sit for 20 minutes, then rinse and shampoo. You can also replace your regular conditioner with olive oil to help bring moisture back to the hair, or give it a deep conditioning treatment by coating your hair in a half cup of olive oil and leaving for 30 minutes before rinsing it out. If you want to mix it up you can also try avocado oil, coconut oil or castor oil.

Tea

We love a cup of sweet or English breakfast tea during the day. But tea is not only good for your insides, it can be used as a great hair treatment. Blonds should use chamomile tea, while people with darker hair should try green or black tea. Leave the teabag in hot water for 15 minutes then allow to cool for a few hours. Then pour the cold tea onto freshly washed hair and leave for 10 minutes before rinsing it clear.  Tea will lower the pH of your hair giving it extra shine and softness.
