Let your hair down!

There are so many things to consider when prepping for your wedding day - from your gown to your shoes, bridesmaids' dresses, boutonnieres for your groom's party, escort cards... the list is endless! So leaving your hair down can be a great way to cut down on some grunt work while also sticking to a style that feels more natural to you. Not to mention the fact that there's nothing stranger than seeing a woman you know and love utterly transformed into her mother by a too-severe updo on her wedding day!

This beautiful bride went for a half-up, half-down style with a sweet floral garland. These kind of soft curls are best achieved with a curling wand or tongs - but you'll probably need to get a hair stylist on board to make you picture perfect. Either that, or choose your 'maids based on who's a dab hand with a paddle brush!

For this inspiration shoot, bows were big business - even in this elegant half updo, where the hair is tied in a cute ribbon! Again, best to get a professional on board to achieve this effect, unless you want to be sweating and shouting at your former BFF while she tries for the seventh time to get your hair to play ball! Top tip? Wash your hair the night before so it's not super-squeaky clean - it's much easier to get your hair to hold a style if it's not super shiny.

This beautiful bride - who had a woodland wedding in the city (with sequins!) - went for another half'n'half style, this time with an elegant side sweep and a traditional veil. Her 'do went perfectly with her wedding, which was photographed by Matt + Julie Weddings and had a distinctly laidback vibe: check out those mismatched 'maids!

We love a smiling bride at Dreamwedding (although we know, we know, moody shots have their place too). This pinned-back braid was created by hair stylist Alex Crabtree and photographed by Shannon Elizabeth. This would be a really simple look to achieve yourself (although again, a curling tongs or wand will be necessary for those soft waves) - we'd recommend practising a couple of times in the run up to your day, and enlisting a friend to help in case of last-minute jitters.

Daniella and Ross's Palm Springs wedding is one of the most colorful we've seen - it looks like such a beautiful day (and check out those shoes!), all captured incredibly by Joie Lala. Daniella chose to leave her hair fully down, which is a surprisingly unusual choice, but worked oh-so well with her slightly bohemian dress and natural blooms.

So what do you think? Would you go au naturel for your wedding day hair style?
