Let's Go Outside - Fun Décor Ideas for Your Outdoor Reception

There is something so lovely and laidback about a colorful outdoor ceremony - and there are so many opportunities to put your own stamp on a venue, without breaking the bank (which is super-important, we know!). Obviously if you have a wedding planner (check out our guide to figuring out if you need oneor event stylist, he/she will be on hand to put the finishing touches to your day and ensure that everything is picture-perfect, but equally you can get your dream day by enlisting the help of family and friends and thinking about some smart décor options to brighten up your scene!

This table setting is super-simple - white linens are a classic, and often inexpensive, décor option that may be rented or supplied by your venue. While the traditional idea might be to pair your white linens with gold (which we're not slamming, we <3 a golden accent!), silver or monochrome details, using your white linens as a blank canvas and then creating a focal point with high-color centerpieces works really well. The Fabergé-egg style favor-holders are a super-cute touch, too!

For a late afternoon or evening reception - or one that's covered by a canopy of trees, for example - stringing up bulbs outside gives a wonderful effect. Twinkling lights above you and your guests as you eat, drink and dance the night away can really make your day seem very magical, and they look great in photographs!

Flowers, flowers and more flowers - we just love a host of blooms, and where better to situate them than at an outdoor ceremony? The one drawback of going full-on with your florals, of course, is that costs can really rack up; to keep within budget, really prioritize which flowers are important to you. Do you want big centerpieces? Flowers at your ceremony? Large bouquets for you and your 'maids? Then try to keep your choices seasonal; by sticking with flowers that are in season (and don't need to be ordered in), you can save a bucket!

Unconventional color choices can really make your reception stand out - while brown linens combined with lush greenery and peach accents might not initially seem like a great option on paper, in practice they work so well! There's a really rustic feel to these wild flower arrangements, and the fruity escort cards are a smart, original (and cost-effective, if you buy in bulk) choice.

Bunting! We blame Pinterest for the serious rise in popularity of this vintage carnival favorite, which is beyond perfect for a vintage wedding fête style wedding and a great, fresh, fun option for any outdoor celebration. A quick Etsy search for bunting produces 50,000 results (although we are aware that some of these are bunting-related, this is still a pretty significant figure!) - so you won't be low on options, and you can always DIY your own bunting really easily (and cheaply!) by using old scraps of fabric you have lying around the house.
