Lovely in lilac

There are some shades that will always come to mind when you think of weddings - and lilac is most definitely one of them! Whether we're talking lilac bridesmaids' gowns, floral arrangements, table centerpieces or grooms' details (ties and boutonnieres), it's definitely a super-easy tone to incorporate into your ceremony.

Though it's quite traditional, lilac can be made modern, too: in the form of masonry jars, for example, holding mismatched lilac and purple bouquets; in bunches of dried lavender (perhaps more for cocktail hour than for dinner-time - the scent is beautiful but can be overpowering); or in purple lemonade dotted over tables at your summer ceremony.

In terms of flowers, think hydrangeas and hyacinths, sprigs of lavender, dahlias, lilacs themselves and sweet peas - and the world is your oyster when it comes to complementary shades. We particularly love the soft grey-green of eucalyptus leaves in centerpieces with softer lilac shades such as hydrangeas and sweet pea. Lovely!
