Shades of gray - inspiration for your wedding theme

There are certain obvious choices when it comes to wedding color schemes - pastel colors are always a great option; peach looks great in a sunny location; and mint green is very on-trend for 2014! So it can be tough sometimes to see the wood for the Pinterest boards - when you want to go for something a little different but are bombarded with the "norm".

Shades of gray look beautiful as part of a classic, chic wedding ceremony, even though the dark shade wouldn't be the most obvious of choices. Sure, groomsmen in slate is pretty standard, but what about dressing your 'maids in shades of gray? Or how about gray linen, stationery or floral accents?

Gray can be a really beautiful alternative to stark black and white; it's soft and classic, traditional without being boring, and flatters most skintones. If you're a little paler (think Irish or British heritage), you might want to warm up your gray to a slight blue-gray tone, otherwise you'll look washed out; if you have African-American or Indian heritage, go for a punchy, dark gray; pale grays look great on Caucasian skin with a tan (perfect for LA and Florida brides!).

In our research, we found a host of inspiration for planning a gray-themed do - check 'em out and please take a look at our Pinterest board, which is brimming over with variations on the theme!
