The 5 Most Romantic Views in the Canadian Rockies

Let’s face it, the Canadian Rockies are simply bursting with spectacular views of lakes, rivers, glaciers, forests and mountains. But if you’re sharing the majestic Rockies with your new spouse, where should you head for the most romantic vistas? Here's our top five!

5 Lake Louise

Probably the best known of the glacial lakes in the Rockies, Lake Louise is famous for its stunning emerald-colored water. Lose the crowds and the noise and take a romantic stroll along the trail around the lake for some of the best - and most peaceful - views.

4 The Banff Springs Hotel

The world-famous historic Banff Springs Hotel is impressive from any angle, but the best viewpoint is Surprise Corner on Tunnel Mountain Road. The view from here of this splendid hotel includes the Bow River and forest-clad mountainsides.

3 Glacier Skywalk

The new Glacier Skywalk in Jasper National Park provides one of the most spectacular views of the Rockies, thanks to the glass floor that extends 35 metres out from the cliff at a height of 280 metres (918 feet). Hold on to your loved one’s hand if you’re afraid of heights!

2 Maligne Lake

Also in Jasper National Park, Maligne Lake has a wonderfully romantic setting, surrounded by towering peaks. The best way to experience its beauty is on the 90 minute scenic cruise to Spirit Island. It may just be a tiny island, but it’s one of the most famous landmarks in the Rockies.

1 Moraine Lake

The most romantic view in the Canadian Rockies has to be the view of Moraine Lake from the Rockpile. Take the short trail from the head of the lake up the Rockpile, and sit at one of the viewpoints along the way. The stunning emerald color of the water set against the pine-clad banks of the lake, and the magnificent mountains of the Valley of the Ten Peaks in the background, make this a place you could sit and relax with your loved one for hours.
