The LA guide to gourmet weddings

Los Angeles has long been the hub for gourmet trends, and its weddings have been no exception.  From dinner served out of a truck, to delectable party favors, Southern California weddings have done it all!  For the true food enthusiast, your wedding day is the perfect time to share your adoration of food with your family and friends.

An increasingly popular trend originating in LA is the “cocktail experience”. Rather than the traditional tray-passed hors d’oeuvres, try offering your guests an oyster bar equipped with a chef shucking the juicy, little suckers fresh. Or even try a margarita bar offering several different types at your guests’ request. Either way, your reception will start off on the right foot and your invitees will be ready to party!

Looking for something outside the dinner plate? Join the food truck revolution (Amanda and Austin did)! Whether you want a perfect midnight snack for your surviving guests, or a joint open all evening so your guests can dine at their own leisure, a food truck offers just that: the perfect dining experience for a fun, culinary-forward wedding!

Another trend that has paved its own way into the wedding world is the not-so-ordinary dessert. In LA, the wedding cake has become more an item of décor than a dessert of choice. Brides all around town are adding everything from cupcakes to cronuts (hybrid croissants and doughnuts) to their dessert buffet. Try it and your guests will not be disappointed!

Finally, if you’re looking to send your guests home fully satisfied, a decadent party favor is always the best option. Go with a mini pie, candy apple, or personalized chocolate mold for a long-lasting, thoughtful gift.  But most importantly, have fun mapping out your wedding menu because what they say is true… The way to a wedding guest’s heart is undoubtedly through their stomach!
