Full-skirted fancy - our top 10 ball gowns

Suzanne Neville

Hands down, the toughest part of writing for Dreamwedding.com is editing - editing photographs from 30 to 10, editing real weddings from 250 shots to 15, selecting the best gold-themed décor photographs or the most exciting venues... There is so much to love about weddings (all weddings!) that selecting which parts we show you is seriously difficult!

Ultimately, we end up choosing our favorites - but that doesn't narrow things down a lot when, like us, you love everything. So, while we're big fans of off-beat, quirky wedding dresses, sometimes we like to come back to basics and embrace the traditional, full-skirted ballgown (with gusto!).

These dresses make us think of the weddings we imagined when we were small: lavish, opulent affairs made with the power of dreams and the enthusiasm of youth (with no mention of icky budgets or bickering in-laws!). While styles have definitely moved towards more relaxed silhouettes, drop waists and softer fabrics, there is always going to be a bride who opts for a traditional dress like Suzanne Neville's (above), a strapless gown with a train and a super-full skirt! Here are some of our top picks.

Pssst! Do be sure to check out our Pinterest boards, where we keep all of the ideas that don't make the site!
