Spotlight On: Alana Aoun

Alana Aoun is not a name most of us will be super familiar with - unless you've spent a lot of time in Australia! The Sydney-based bridal designer studied haute couture in Paris, before moving to Oz and setting up shop there, designing exquisitely luxurious wedding gowns for the Australian market.

At the Sydney atelier, Aoun offers made-to-measure designs for brides looking to capitalise on her experience as a milliner, jeweller and dressmaker (she's been busy!) - but for international clients, there are ready-to-wear gowns available, that you can of course then have altered (at your own discretion) back home.

Trademarks? These are goddess gowns, with strong silhouettes, luxurious embellishment and opulent fabrics, and they're all designed and made in-house in Sydney, and finished on site with hand-beading, embroidery or embellishment!

Cost-wise, we have yet to see an Alana Aoun retailing at less than $3,000, so these won't be for the budget-conscious bride - and that's before you've taken into consideration the cost of shipping from Australia and having any necessary alterations made! Ouch!
