Suits You! White Wedding Suits and Jumpsuits For Every Bride

The guests had arrived, the smell of roses filled the air, and the groom turned around to see his beautiful bride walking down the aisle in a white… jumpsuit?

This particular silhouette might not be what you had in mind for your wedding, but this year’s fashion forward bridal wear isn’t a dress or even a skirt, but something that might seem more similar to your new spouse’s attire.

Naeem Khan sent his models parading down the catwalk in feminine flared trousers and a flattering silk top, with the entire ensemble beaded in ivory. A veil completed a look fit for a princess – or at the very least, a trendsetting bride.

Solange Knowles provided celebrity inspiration in her wedding to Alan Ferguson. She showed herself to be ahead of the curve in a cream cat suit, which was comfortable for the duration of the festivities, including a bike ride to the ceremony.

The bride opted for accessories in shades that matched her dress, but wearing trousers gives the perfect opportunity to incorporate a splash of colour or contrast in your outfit. Houghton featured a pantsuit paired with hot-pink stilettos, and a lace romper with strappy black sandals in their 2015 bridal shows.

Although featuring trousers as part of your bridal wear isn’t as girlish as a dress or skirt, the look can still retain the romance of a wedding day. If a veil is not your first choice, 2015’s bridal hairstyles feature flowers, plaits and crowns that will add femininity to a pantsuit.

For civil ceremonies, brides can follow the example of Amal Clooney, who was dressed by Stella McCartney in palazzo trousers and a matching blouse for her marriage to George in Venice. Her attire might not have been suitable for a fairy-tale wedding but it was a costume fit for Hollywood royalty.
