1 Venue, 3 Ways - Carton House

When it comes to your big day, it won't matter how many little personal details you added; just how meticulous you were about your flower arrangements; or how strict you were with your bridesmaids about how many layers of fake tan they went for – your venue will always be the singlemost important decision you make.

For starters, every single wedding photograph from the reception will include the venue; how will your boho-styled day look, set against a medieval castle? It's where, more often than not, you and your bridesmaids will get ready; it's where you and your groom will spend your wedding night; it's where you'll have your breakfast postmortem; and it's where your guests will wait while you get snap happy with your chosen photographer.

But while the venue is super important, it's not a fixed quantity. Those little details you've been panicking over can transform your chosen venue – just check out how these three couples made their venue (Carton House in Maynooth, Co Kildare) their own.

Catherine and Colin chose A Midsummer Night's Dream as their wedding theme, photographed by Couple Photography.

Andrea and Eoghain had a super-sweet and romantic theme for their wedding, shot by Savo with naturalistic flowers and bonus Love Hearts at the place settings.

Finally, Julia and Ray got Aislinn Events on board to coordinate their 1920s glam reception, complete with sequined table runners and full bloom bouquets by The French Touch, all photographed by Christina Brosnan.
