Real Wedding - Doug and Steve's engagement shoot in Balboa Park, San Diego

Doug and Steve decided to have an engagement shoot to celebrate their upcoming wedding at The Prado in Balboa Park. It made sense to the couple to have their shoot there because it means so much to them. It’s home to the famous San Diego Zoo and it’s where the San Diego Gay Pride Festival is held each year. Doug and Steve have also taken part in lots of charity walks and runs in the park, and now they love spending time there together as a family.

The couple met 15 years ago, when Steve reluctantly traveled on a work assignment to Iowa, which happened to be where Doug lived at the time. They met at a local hangout, and Doug offered to take Steve on a tour of the city. They followed that with lunch, then dinner, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Their four-year-old twins will have big roles in their wedding. Emma will be maid of honor, and Thomas will be their best man. “We hope the twins will remember the day because their family and friends love them and us so much that they traveled from all over the country to come spend some time celebrating us and our love together as a family," the couple said. "We hope they see how special and amazing they are to us, and how truly blessed and lucky we dads are to have them in our lives and by our sides as we get married.”

Of course the adorable twins had to get in on the action of the engagement photography session, and everyone had great fun at the shoot. Take a look at their fun filled day that was captured by Derek Chad Photography.
