Real Wedding - Kate and Sean in Stonington, Connecticut

We love seeing furry friends included in a wedding. Your pets are as much a part of your family as anyone else so they should get a part in your day. Kate and Sean decided their pet dog should have a starring role in their day, and he even got a bowtie to match their wedding theme!

Sean, who is originally from the UK, was in a tapas restaurant in Champaign Illinois in 2011 when he met Kate who was doing her residency at the University of Illinois

The couple got engaged in 2013 during a summer vacation to California “We dreamed of driving the Pacific Coast Highway in a convertible,” Kate says.  While driving from Santa Cruz to their next destination, Sean appeared to be more interested in his phone than enjoying California's rugged coastline. But little did Kate know that he was organizing a very special proposal.

After dinner in a Greek restaurant, Kate and Sean decided to head over to the beach for a walk. Sean says that although he had never visited Carmel, he had memorized the route from the restaurant to the exact location where the bonfire was to be on the beach.

They arrived at the spot hand in hand and Kate mentioned to Sean how it was strange that there was an unattended fire on the beach. “Sean suggested we should investigate, but I wasn't too keen on crashing someone else’s set-up and expected that whoever built the fire would return soon. Sean continued to walk toward the fire while I could only watch on. When he said ‘This is for us’ it did the trick and as I got closer I noticed the blanket, a bottle with glasses, supplies for my favorite dessert, S'mores and red rose petals arranged in the shape of a heart on the beach.”

Sean got down on one knee and presented the ring that had accompanied them everywhere on the trip hidden in his camera bag. Kate said yes and the two of them huddled by the fire as the sun went down feeling even more excited to continue their vacation as a newly engaged couple.

The couple chose Saltwater Farm Vineyard as their venue because it had all the elements of their dream wedding. “We wanted to get married in my home state of Connecticut,” Kate says. “We knew it was going to be a small wedding and wanted a rustic venue which could accommodate a small wedding, had beautiful outdoor and indoor scenery - and we love wine!”
