Real Wedding - Sarah and Matthew at CrossKeys Vineyards, Virginia
Sunflowers are one of the happiest flowers in the world. Their bright yellow instantly transports you to a summer's day and fields of beautiful flowers all worshipping the sun. That's why we love this sunflower themed wedding!
Sarah, from Herndon, Virginia, and Matthew from Kansas, met through Baptist Collegiate Ministries at James Madison University. They were together for about two years when they decided to get married after one of the most romantic engagements we've featured in our real weddings.
“We were in the Outer Banks with my family” Sarah says. “Matt and I got up to watch the sunrise one morning, which was by far one of the prettiest sunrises I have ever seen. After the sun rose, we stood on the beach for awhile and talked. Then I turned my head to look at something, then when I turned back he was on one knee and I asked me if I would spend the rest of my life with him. I answered 'Of course!'”
Faith is clearly important to this couple and they too a moment to pray together before the ceremony. “We were able to take a couple minutes to pray together which was very special. In the mist of a busy day, it was nice to be able to have a couple minutes together to relax.”
The wedding at the CrossKeys Vineyard in the Shenandoah Valley, which overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountains was a special day for the couple. Sarah's most memorable moment was when Matthew saw her for the first time, “One of the biggest highlights was seeing each other for the first time. We chose to do a first look before the ceremony with just the two of us. I will never forget his face when he first saw me!”
Dad's can get very soppy at weddings and Sarah's dad was no exception. He presented the couple with an unforgettably sweet gift that they will treasure forever. “My dad surprised me with a very special moment that I will never forgot. After our father daughter dance, he made a slide show of pictures of us through the years that played to one of our favorite songs. Then he presented me with part of the tree trunk from my first Christmas Tree, and he gave me an ornament that he made out my brother's, sister's, and my first Christmas Trees. It was a very emotional and special moment that I will never forget. It will always be hung first on our Christmas Tree!”
The couple had all the family at their wedding and gave all the kids goodie bags that went down a treat! The couple also made time to have photos taken with the kids who loved the experience. After the wedding the couple headed on a well deserved break to Alaska on a cruise.
